Bafana Bafana legend Matthew Booth thinks that there is something suspicious about the timing of head coach Shakes Mashaba's suspension from the national team.
Mashaba's job at the helm of Bafana has been of much speculation, and to the South African football fraternity's surprise, after leading the team to a 2-1 victory over Senegal, the 66-year-old's job was taken in to question once again.
Bafana claimed a crucial win in their second 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying encounter, which took place on 12 November.
However, following the full-time whistle, the head coach allegedly had a rant directed towards SAFA President Danny Jordaan, which subsequently resulted in Mashaba's suspension the following day, where he now faces an internal DC.

In issue 999 of Soccer Laduma, the Siya crew spoke to Booth to hear his thoughts on SAFA's decision to suspend Mashaba before the national team geared up to face Mozambique in an international friendly.
"Luckily it happens when there's a break, but the whole situation is suspicious. It's almost as if they had someone lined up already. And that's how the public views it," Booth said.
"I've been critical of Shakes in the past and also complimentary of him, but I think it's completely wrong that he has been suspended for having a go at whoever. I think it should be for a more solid reason than the one that was given. So it's very suspicious, but we will wait and see…" he added.
