Reports emerging from England and Spain are claiming that Borussia Dortmund’s Marco Reus has agreed to a five-year deal with Real Madrid.
It has been reported by Spanish newspaper El Confidencial, as well as English paper, The Daily Star, that Real Madrid officials met with the German attacker at the end of last year to negotiate a deal.
The 25-year-old German star is free to leave his club in the summer when a £20 million release clause becomes active, and it will come as a blow to several major European clubs to find that Reus has snubbed them for the reigning European champions.
Dortmund’s chief executive, Hans-Joachim Watzke, has already admitted that holding onto Reus will be a difficult task.
“My big hope is that he will stay here for a long time,” he said. “If he decides differently, that's the way it is. One of the challenges in football is to benefit from staff changes in any way and create new things.”
Reus has made 99 appearances for Borussia Dortmund since 2012 and he has scored 47 goals in the process.
