Four-time African Footballer of the Year Yaya Toure has been dropped from Pep Guardiola’s Champions League squad, and this is how he reportedly reacted to the surprising news.
His agent Dimitri Seluk has slammed Guardiola for axing his client from Manchester City’s Champions League squad and suggested Toure will sign a pre-contract with another club in January.
However, according to DailyMail, the Ivory Coast captain has vowed to fight for his place in Guardiola’s team, even though he is disappointed with Guardiola’s decision.
It is claimed the 33-year-old has not given up on his City future and wants to prove the Spaniard wrong.
So far, Toure missed four out of Guardiola’s five squads of the current season and only featured in the Champions League qualification second leg against Steaua Bucharest.
Toure has made 269 appearances for City, scoring 72 goals and assisting another 45 since leaving Barcelona after falling out with then coach Guardiola in 2010.
The 2015 Africa Cup of Nations winner lifted six trophies since joining the Citizens, two Premier League titles, one FA Cup, two League Cups and one Community Shield.
