Globo Esporte are reporting that the 26-year-old has given the green light to a move back to his native Brazil, with Fluminense believed to have submitted an official proposal to Mamelodi Sundowns earlier this week.
This comes amid local reports claiming that the attacker has departed the Brazilians’ pre-season camp in Rustenburg, suggesting that an exit from Chloorkop is now imminent.
Fluminense, who recently said goodbye to their Colombian star Jhon Arias following his move to Wolverhampton Wanderers in the English Premier League, appear to be eyeing Ribeiro as his replacement. The Sundowns man was the golden boot winner in the Betway Premiership last season, and his goalscoring exploits have not gone unnoticed.
The same report from Globo Esporte claims that Fluminense first made contact with Ribeiro during the recent Club World Cup in the United States, where they crossed paths on the pitch. At the time, however, the player was said to be in advanced talks with a club in Qatar.
That proposed move is yet to materialise, which appears to have opened the door for the Rio de Janeiro-based side to swoop in.
