The Citizens confirmed the arrival of the decorated Italian shot-stopper as they prepare for life after long-serving goalkeeper Ederson.
The Brazilian has yet to feature for City this season, fuelling speculation that Pep Guardiola is ready to usher in a new era between the sticks at the Etihad. James Trafford, who also joined from Burnley earlier in the window, has started the opening games in goal, but City have now turned to Donnarumma to add world-class pedigree to the position.
Like Ederson at City, Donnarumma found himself frozen out at PSG, with head coach Luis Enrique publicly stating his desire to integrate a new profile of goalkeeper. As a result, the 26-year-old did not feature in any of the Parisians’ opening matches of the campaign.
