Bloemfontein Celtic have denied allegations that they have been sold to an unknown businessman in Kimberley, as reported last week.
It was said that the Siwelele club was sold for R60 million, and the news caused a lot of tension in the City of Roses, where Phunya Sele Sele supporters took to the streets and went riot.
Supporters Club spoke to a prominent fan Mamello Makha, who gave clarity on the matter on Monday. You can read the full story at this link.
The passionate supporter said that a meeting in Bloemfontein would be held with the hope of finding a buyer who is based within the region and keeping the club in city. To follow up on the story, Supporters Club contact Mamello once again, who has given us some feedback regarding the meeting:
"Yes, a meeting was held yesterday (Tuesday), and by the look of things, our club will remain in Bloemfontein," she said.
"Siwelele supporters gathered in a meeting and the club's CEO, Max Tshabalala, was in attendance with a couple of other businessmen. Tshabalala was very honest with us and assured us that the club will not leave Bloemfontein. That's a positive sign.
"Max went on to deny the allegations that the team has been sold to an unnamed Kimberley businessman. Yes, the club is up for sale, but it will be sold to someone willing to keep it at home. He told us that he has three potential buyers already and they have all come with great offers.
"The chairman also assured us that he will never break the promise he made to the club's founder, the late Ntate Molemela. Ntate Molemela had always wanted the team to remain in Bloem, and that's what Max has promised to do.
"Regarding the Kimberley issue, what we were told in the meeting is that probably half of Bloem's league season will be played in Kimberley. The reason for this initiative is for the Municipality of Kimberley to play the role of sponsorship to Siwelele. For each game played in Kimberley, the municipality will pay an estimated amount of R1 million throughout the season.
"So, yes, the meeting was successful, and we are happy. We're just waiting to see what is going to happen."
