With Rulani Mokwena now officially on the market, the South African tactician is reportedly in serious negotiations with a North African club.

Last week, the Johannesburg native’s prolonged contract saga with Wydad Athletic Club came to an end after both he and the club announced their split.
This now means, for the second consecutive off-season, the 38-year-old can join any club of his choosing — and it seems he could already be on the verge of signing for a new side. According to WinWin, Zamalek are progressing quickly to appoint him.
The White Knights have endured a tumultuous campaign, having had four different managers in charge this season. Currently at the helm is Ayman El Ramadi, however, the Egyptian tactician is only in charge on an interim basis until the end of the season.
Now, they are planning for the future, and they envisage the former Mamelodi Sundowns boss as their next long-term appointment. The same report claims that there is a strong possibility he could become their next manager.
Another South African tactician, Pitso Mosimane, has also been linked with the position, having already enjoyed great success with their arch-rivals Al Ahly. However, it now appears that Mokwena is the frontrunner ahead of his mentor.

Having already secured qualification for next season’s CAF Confederation Cup, the five-time African champions have one more league match to contest — against Pharco, and an Egyptian Cup final with Zamalek before the off-season.
