Pirates extended their unbeaten run since the restart of the season to six matches in all tournaments after cruising to the quarter-finals of the Nedbank Cup with a 4-0 win over Hungry Lions before the FIFA break.

The Buccaneers were previously in league action after edging Kaizer Chiefs 3-2 and they moved up to second on the table, equal on points with third-placed SuperSport United but they have a superior goal difference.

Sekhukhune, on the other hand, are licking their wounds after they were knocked out of the Nedbank Cup in the round of 16 following a 2-0 defeat to AmaZulu before the FIFA break.

However, Babina Noko are in good form in the league, as they won their fourth game in a row after thrashing Moroka Swallows 4-1.

United are placed sixth on the log with 30 points, just three points behind Pirates.

Jose Riveiro's charges will be looking to complete a league double over Sekhukhune after edging them 1-0 in the first round thanks to a late goal by Thabiso Monyane.
