Orlando Pirates will be searching for their first victory in the DStv Premiership since the restart when they visit Polokwane City on Saturday afternoon at Peter Mokaba Stadium.

DStv Premiership

Teams: Polokwane City v Orlando Pirates

Date: 02 March 2024

Venue: Peter Mokaba Stadium

Time: 15h30

The Buccaneers re-opened their season with a 1-1 draw against Mamelodi Sundowns after coming from a man and goal down to salvage a point thanks to a penalty converted by Tapelo Xoki, who cancelled out an opener for the Brazilians by Marcelo Allende.

The Soweto giants booked their spot in the Nedbank Cup last 16 after cruising to a 6-0 win over fourth-tier outfit Crystal Lake last weekend.

The Sea Robbers are lying fifth on the standings with 26 points, five points behind continental positions.

Jose Riveiro will still be without the services of Miguel Timm, who will be serving his second match suspension after his red-card against Sundowns.

Polokwane, meanwhile, are smarting after they were knocked out of the Nedbank Cup in the first round by Richards Bay, who won 3-2 last weekend.

Rise and Shine, however, followed up a commendable goalless draw against the Brazilians in their last game of 2023 with a narrow win over Moroka Swallows in the return of the Premiership.

City are placed ninth on the table with 24 points, out of the top eight on goal difference, as they equal on points with TS Galaxy and Sekhukhune United, who are in seventh and eighth place respectively.

Rise and Shine denied Pirates a full haul of points in the first round after a 1-1 draw in October last year at Orlando Stadium.
