Teams: Stellenbosch v TS Galaxy

Date: 16 December 2023

Venue: Moses Mabhida Stadium

Time: 15h00

Stellies remarkably reached their first ever cup final with all their victories from away games and all in regulation time after beating Chippa United 2-1 in the round of 16, beat Polokwane City 2-0 in the quarter-finals and thrashed Richards Bay 3-0 in the semi-finals.

The Cape Winelands outfit prepared for the final with a morale-boosting 1-0 win over rivals Cape Town City in the Western Cape derby, in the league, last Friday.

Galaxy, meanwhile, needed two penalty shootouts to reach the semi-finals after edging Mamelodi Sundowns on penalties following a 2-2 draw in extra-time in the round of 16.

The Rockets also beat Sekhukhune United on penalties in the quarter-finals after a goalless draw in extra-time. Sead Ramovic's troops, however, edged AmaZulu 3-2 in regulation time in the semi-finals.

Galaxy were last on action last Saturday after a narrow 1-0 defeat to Orlando Pirates in the league.

As a result, the Mpumalanga-based side go into the final lying 14th on the table, five points above the relegation zone.

The sides have already met in the league this season, where Stellies hammered Galaxy 3-0 at the Danie Craven Stadium in October.
