Chiefs Provide Dove Contract Hint

Chiefs Provide Dove Contract Hint

Kaizer Chiefs football manager Bobby Motaung has given a hint on the future of defender Edmilson Dove, whose contract is set to expire at the end of the season.

Dove is currently at the Africa Cup of Nations with Mozambique and could attract interest of scouts watching the competition.

Motaung, however, has confirmed to the Siya crew that they have an option to extend the contract of the former Cape Town City player, so they are not pressing any panic buttons just yet.

They see Dove as a player that can be at Naturena beyond the expiration of his contract. The 29-year-old has been an influential figure in the side of interim coach Cavin Johnson, who has been using him as a left-sided centre back.

"We are proud of him. That's why we brought him into the squad. He is a quality player and he has experience. We are proud that he is representing his country and also the Kaizer Chiefs brand," Motaung said to the Siya crew.

"We are not worried (about losing him). If there is interest, obviously we will look at the offer, if there is an offer for him. But at the moment, we are confident he is still with the club. We still have a long way to go with him. We've got an option on his contract, so it's not like we are panicking."

Some of the other players whose contracts are set to expire in June are Njabulo Ngcobo and Sifiso Hlanti.
