Durban City are believed to be monitoring the situation of former Orlando Pirates youngster Augustine Mahlonoko, the Siya crew has been informed.
Mahlonoko, who made headlines in 2018 when he became the youngest player to debut for the Buccaneers' senior team at just 16 years old, has seen his career take a winding path since then – but the talented midfielder may now be on the verge of another shot at reigniting his once-promising career.

According to sources close to the situation, Durban City have expressed interest in bringing the 23-year-old on board ahead of the 2025/26 campaign, with the club believed to be keen on bolstering their midfield with creative, attack-minded options.
“He’s one of the players they’ve been discussing,” a source told the Siya crew. “There’s admiration for his talent, and the club believes that in the right environment, Mahlonoko can still live up to the potential that made him such a big name as a teenager.”
Having spent time with clubs like Baroka FC and Pretoria Callies among other clubs since leaving Pirates, Mahlonoko has struggled to find consistent form and game time in recent seasons.
However, those who’ve worked closely with him insist that the quality is still there – he just needs the right project and support system to flourish again.

Durban City, who have ambitions of making a serious impact in the upcoming season, may present the kind of platform Mahlonoko needs to reignite his career.
“He’s still young. People forget that,” added the source. “He broke through so early that it feels like he’s been around forever, but there’s still time for him to turn things around. Durban City might be the perfect place for that,” concluded the source.
