Chippa Keen On Out-Of-Favour Motupa?

Chippa Keen On Out-Of-Favour Motupa?

With a good two weeks before the transfer window slams shut, there could still be surprise moves in the Premier Soccer League. The Siya crew understands that Chippa United are one of the DStv Premiership clubs hoping to reinforce coach Morgan Mammila's team by adding some firepower up front prior to the September 22 deadline.

A target for the Chilli Boys appears to be out-of-favour Mamelodi Sundowns forward Gift Motupa, who is currently being sidelined even when the club is battling from having key players out injured. Word reaching Soccer Laduma is that Chippa have enquired about the availability of Motupa, a player Mammila knows well from his time at Baroka FC before both moved on to greener pastures.

"All my strikers are injured and I am using some players out of position. But there are no strikers in South Africa," the coach told the media in the early weeks of the season.

The Gqeberha-based outfit also made headlines during the offseason by confirming their search for a "dynamic" left back on social networks – requesting CVs and videos to be able to assess the suitable candidate.

However, they've not yet gone this route when it comes to hunting down a striker that can bang in goals, but have, instead, the Siya crew understands, approached Sundowns to determine whether Motupa could be available.

The former Bidvest Wits striker joined the Brazilians almost exactly three years ago on a five-year contract, but has only managed 22 appearances. Motupa is yet to feature this season and it now remains to be seen whether Sundowns will offload him before the deadline.
