Comitis: City Will Stop At Nothing To Have Justice

PRETORIA, SOUTH AFRICA - OCTOBER 30: John Comitis, owner of Cape Town City during the Betway Premiership match between Mamelodi Sundowns and Cape Town City FC at Loftus Versfeld

Cape Town City FC CEO John Comitis has vowed to pursue all available channels in their case against Marumo Gallants regarding the improper registration of player Monde Mpambaniso.

After an initial SAFA Arbitration referred the matter back to the Premier Soccer League's Disciplinary Committee (PSL DC), Gallants were fined R200,000 with half of that amount suspended for one year. However, Comitis believes this penalty was insufficient and has now appealed the decision, taking the case back to SAFA Arbitration.

"What I can tell you for now is that we will stop at nothing to see the integrity of the PSL Executive whom we voted into office, and the prosecutor follow the rules they themselves put into place. We are looking for justice to be done in this case. It's not fair that rules and laws can be overlooked like this. The PSL should respect and follow the rules. That's why we are going to the SAFA Arbitration now," Comitis told Soccer Laduma.

The City CEO indicated that the Arbitration hearing could take place imminently, potentially within days.

"For now, we don't have the date for the Arbitration yet. But today we could get the date, and it could be as early as tomorrow. So as I have said, we will stop at nothing to have justice done," Comitis observed.

The case holds particular significance for Cape Town City, who were relegated to the Motsepe Foundation Championship after finishing 15th in the Betway Premiership last season. The Citizens subsequently failed in their promotion-relegation playoff campaign against Casric Stars and Orbit College, with the latter club eventually securing promotion to the top flight.
