After extending his contract for at least one more season, Kaizer Chiefs have reportedly entrusted one of their defenders with additional leadership responsibilities ahead of the new campaign.
As previously reported by Soccer Laduma, Amakhosi established a three-member captains committee led by Inacio Miguel, with Given Msimango and Brandon Petersen completing the leadership group.

Insiders close to the club have discussed how defender Zitha Kwinika was then added to the captains committee due to uncertainty surrounding one of the original members.
"Yes, it's true Zitha (Kwinika) has been added to the captain's committee. Initially, he was not part of it, but after looking at the situation of Given Msimango they had to rope in another player and both the technical team and management agreed that Kwinika was believed to be the right person to join the committee. So, for now it's him, Inacio Miguel and Brandon Petersen who are in that committee, " the source told Soccer Laduma.
A second insider stated that Msimango's injury concerns played a significant role in the decision to adjust the leadership structure.

"They had also to add Zitha because Given is firstly injured and also his future at the club is in the balance, so they are believed to have wanted to have another player who they are guaranteed will be at the club this season. They will review the committee again at the end of the season and take it from there," the second insider told the Siya crew.
This move aligns with Chiefs' broader strategy of establishing a strong leadership core as they look to compete across multiple competitions this season, including the CAF Confederation Cup.
Soccer Laduma contacted Chiefs for comment on the situation but the club had not responded by the time this report was published. It remains to be seen if Msimango stays at Amakhosi and re-establishes himself as one of the club captains.
