Free agent Percy Tau's salary demands to Zamalek has reportedly been revealed as the Egyptian giants look to secure the South African international's signing this transfer window.

Tau, who spent three-and-a-half successful seasons with Al Ahly, moved to Qatar SC in January 2025 but is now without a club after departing the Qatari side at the end of the 2024/25 season.
Rumours of Tau's return to Egypt have proliferated since his departure, and it is Al Ahly's biggest rivals, Zamalek, are have been courting the 31-year-old.
According to Africa Foot, the White Knights have reportedly begun negotiations with Tau. The former Brighton forward has agreed in principle to join Zamalek during this transfer window, and a return to Egypt appears imminent.
However, the only thing that appeared to stand in the way of Tau's return to Egypt was his salary demands. According to Africa Foot, A source revealed that Tau set his financial requirements to join the 14-time Egyptian Premier League champions is in the region of $800 000 (R14,1 million) per year.

The club reportedly feel that the fee is "substantial", but the club's president is also looking to complete the deal during this window.
