A source within Al Ahly club has revealed that the Egyptian powerhouse is closely monitoring red-hot Orlando Pirates attacker Relebohile Mofokeng with a view of having him lead the club for the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup.

As reported by Egyptian media, the club is interested in securing Mofokeng's services during the January transfer window.

According to exclusive statements made to Al-Jumhuriya, Swiss coach Marcel Koller is particularly impressed with the 20-year-old's abilities and has included the young striker on his list of potential reinforcements for the team in the current window.

Mofokeng is believed to be considered a valuable target as Al Ahly prepares for the upcoming Club World Cup, which will take place in USA in June this year.

While no official offer has been submitted to Pirates as of yet, Al Ahly is expected to closely monitor Mofokeng's performance in the upcoming CAF Champions League match between the two clubs in Cairo.

The encounter will serve as a key opportunity for the club's planning and football management committee to assess the player's level before potentially making an official offer.

Mofokeng's rise in South African football has garnered attention all across the world, having been linked with FC Barcelona as reported by the Siya crew, and it appears that Al Ahly is keen to evaluate the striker's potential to bolster their attacking options as they aim to strengthen their squad.

Meanwhile another South African in Percy Tau is expected to formalise his exit from the club, with Qatar SC expected to announce his arrival in the coming days.
