This season, Relebohile Mofokeng has graduated from a rising prospect to a superstar in the Betway Premiership, consequently making a strong case to be considered the best player of the campaign.

Despite being just 20 years old, the Sharpeville native has emerged as a prominent figure for one of the league’s biggest clubs — Orlando Pirates.
The winger has taken the mantle from young superstars before him such as Lebohang ‘Cheeseboy’ Mokoena and Gift Leremi, carving out a phenomenal individual campaign for himself.
Although it may not have been a trophy-laden season, he was perhaps the most influential figure in the Buccaneers’ title charge in the South African top flight.
He was entrusted with greater responsibility by Jose Riveiro, starting all 26 league matches he was named in the squad for, and repaid that faith with five goals and eight assists in the Betway Premiership.
An increase in his volume of passes has not compromised the accuracy or quality of his playmaking. According to Sofascore, Mofokeng has made 70 key passes and created 11 big chances in the league this season — almost double his tally from the previous campaign, where he recorded 22 key passes and six big chances.

His excellent form translated well into the CAF Champions League and on the international stage with Bafana Bafana. Now, with the domestic campaign having officially concluded, many will expect him to take the next step — and strut his stuff abroad.
