Orlando Pirates have provided an update on Vincent Pule amid the star's long-awaited return as the team finalizes preparations for their match against Chippa United.
Pule has been out of action since injuring his thigh while with Bafana Bafana in October and recently returned to full training with the rest of his teammates. Although he missed this past weekend's CAF Confederation Cup match against Tanzanian outfit Simba, the 30-year-old is in line for a return against Chippa, if the latest update from the Soweto giants is anything to go by.
Bucs are scheduled to host the Chilli Boys at Orlando Stadium on Wednesday as the race for a second place finish on the log heats up as teams battle for a qualification spot for next season's CAF Champions League.
Pirates have hinted that Pule could finally make the matchday squad after a long time, depending on the final selection from co-coaches Mandla Ncikazi and Fadlu Davids.
The former Bidvest Wits star was last in action at the beginning of October against Cape Town City, and he has made six appearances in total.
"In the Bucs camp, a return is on the horizon for midfielder Vincent Pule, who made his last league appearance in October 2021. The 30-year-old sustained a thigh injury while on national duty but is now nearing full fitness," confirmed Pirates on the club's official website.
