Orlando Pirates attacker Karim Kimvuidi during a Betway Premiership match v Golden Arrows

Following growing speculation over a potential exit from Orlando Pirates, Karim Kimvuidi has delivered a timely reminder of his quality – and those within the club are now encouraging him to stay and fight for his place.

The Congolese attacker played a starring role in Pirates’ 2-1 Betway Premiership win over Golden Arrows at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Tuesday night.

It was Kimvuidi’s first competitive appearance since February, and he seized the moment with an inspired performance that earned him the Man-of-the-Match accolade.

In a post-match interview, the 23-year-old acknowledged the long wait for another opportunity and expressed his gratitude to the technical staff for the chance to contribute.

He also credited his teammates for their support in what he described as a tough, high-stakes encounter, emphasising the importance of the team’s victory over his individual achievement.

Having joined Pirates in 2023 from Maritzburg United (now rebranded as Durban City), Kimvuidi still has time left on his contract, and insiders say the player has no intention of forcing a move away – despite frustration over limited minutes.

“It was all about frustration due to his lack of regular game time that there has been talk of him leaving,” a source close to the player told the Siya crew.

“He’s never tried to force that, and what I can tell you is that he is a disciplined boy who is just so confident in his talent and that he can fight for a place at the club. He’s been encouraged to keep working hard and aim for consistency to cement his place in the starting line-up next season.”

With renewed confidence and growing support internally, Kimvuidi may yet play a more central role for the Soweto giants going forward.
