Orlando Pirates head coach Josef Zinnbauer feels his side was distracted by the upcoming match against Raja Casablanca in their disappointing display against Stellenbosch FC.
The Buccaneers' put on a lacklustre performance against Stellies, who really should have punished the Soweto giants, were it not for some woeful finishing witnessed in a match that ended 0-0.
Pirates maintained their faith in the side that managed to get a 3-0 victory over Black Leopards last week, something that appears to have backfired on the German, who was left visibly frustrated by his team.
After the match, a disgruntled Zinnbauer revealed that the reason for the dismal performance could be attributed to Pirates' upcoming CAF Confederations Cup quarterfinal clash against Raja on Sunday.
"Ja, the result was not good for me, it's not enough. Before the match we wanted three points, this was clear [but] the performance was not enough to win the game," Zinnbauer told Pirates' media department.
"We have four games left to play in the league and we have to fight for all games and win three points, that is always the first target that we have; especially on Sunday, we have a big game and maybe the [players'] head was more on Sunday. It is a big game for the players but it's not the right way, we first have to play this game and then we concentrate on Sunday's game."
