Motsepe: Why Price Tag Won't Affect Allende

With a massive R51 million price tag on Marcelo Allende, Mamelodi Sundowns chairman Tlhopie Motsepe does not think it will have any affect on his performances for the club.

The Chilean international was the hero as Sundowns secured victory at the death against AmaZulu on Sunday.

The player's price tag, believed to have been $3 million, according to reports in Chile, has been a major talking point, particularly on social media where the public expects him to constantly live up to the amount of money Sundowns forked out to bring him to South Africa.

"Marcelo is a really special. He is a great person. To talk about the price tag affecting him, I don't think so. First of all, he understands the projects and he is excited about what we are trying to achieve and he knows at Mamelodi Sundowns he is going to develop as a person and as a footballer he knows he is going to reach new heights," Motsepe told the media during the unveiling of the multi-purpose sports facility by Sundowns, Nedbank and the Sports Trust at Soshanguve South Secondary School on Monday.

"I am glad to see that he has settled so well. He knows the Sundowns sign. He came here speaking Spanish, but now you can hear him saying a few South African slang words. I think a few of the guys are having an influence on him, which is good. He has embraced South African culture, and that of Mamelodi Sundowns as well."
