Egyptian football journalist Ahmed Shobeir was the first to reveal the news that Sundowns star Lucas Ribeiro Costa was linked with a move to the Sky Blues as a replacement for the team's outgoing star, Ibrahim Adel.
Shobeir revealed in an X post: "Pyramids is in advanced negotiations with South African club Mamelodi Sundowns to sign the Brazilian winger Lucas Ribeiro Costa."
"Honestly, if Pyramids manages to secure the player, it will be a blockbuster deal and a very strong addition to the Pyramids team, especially since they want to sign a new winger to replace Ibrahim Adel," he added.
Previous reports revealed that the 26-year-old was linked with a move away from Masandawana after his impressive performances in the Betway Premiership and the FIFA Club World Cup, where his stunning solo goal against Borussia Dortmund won the Goal of the Tournament.
