Former Mamelodi Sundowns defender Wandisile Letlabika has shared words of encouragement and national pride as the Brazilians gear up for the prestigious FIFA Club World Cup.
Speaking exclusively to the Siya crew, Letlabika expressed full confidence in his former club’s ability to make a strong impact at the global tournament, which is underway in the United States.

“Sundowns have learnt valuable lessons from the CAF Champions League final – about how to manage big games and what to avoid. I believe they will have a better tournament this time. They’ll want to show the world who they really are and what they’re capable of,” said Letlabika.
Having booked their place as one of Africa’s four representatives at the revamped 32-team Club World Cup, Sundowns will face stiff competition in their group which consists of Ulsan HD (South Korea), Fluminense (Brazil) and Borussia Dortmund (Germany).
Letlabika believes the significance of Sundowns’ participation goes far beyond club level.
“For me, this is no longer about Sundowns alone. It’s about the whole country. Whether you support Chiefs, Pirates, SuperSport or any other club, now is the time to get behind Sundowns. They are flying the South African flag high, and they deserve our full support,” he added.
The veteran defender also highlighted the broader benefits that success at the Club World Cup could bring.

“If Sundowns perform well, international scouts will take notice of South African talent – players and coaches alike. That can open doors not only for Sundowns but for the rest of the PSL clubs too, through deals and global exposure,” said Letlabika.
“I take my hat off to everyone at Sundowns – the people in the office, the technical staff, the players – everyone involved in making this happen. They’ve set a high standard, and they are representing the best of what South African football has to offer,” he concluded.
