Marumo Gallants are believed to be targeting French tactician Alexandre Lafitte as a potential successor to Abdeslam Ouaddou, following the Moroccan’s departure from the club.
Sources close to the situation have indicated to Soccer Laduma that Lafitte has emerged as a leading candidate for the coaching role at the Free State-based outfit.

The young coach recently guided Stade d’Abidjan to the Ivorian Ligue 1 title – the club’s first championship triumph in 56 years.
Earlier this week, Stade d’Abidjan officially confirmed Lafitte’s exit, following the expiration of his contract.
The 28-year-old’s departure comes after a historic campaign in which he led the Ivorian giants to glory and cemented his reputation as one of the continent’s most promising coaches.
“With his contract coming to an end, Stade Abidjan warmly thanks Coach Lafitte for his professionalism and wishes him every success in his future career,” the club said in a statement.
“Thanks to him, our club has returned to the summits of Ivorian football by becoming champion of Côte d'Ivoire 56 years after its last coronation. This title will remain engraved in the history of the club and in the hearts of our supporters.”
Lafitte took over at Stade d’Abidjan in 2023 and immediately made an impact by helping the team avoid relegation in his debut season. His second campaign brought even more success, culminating in a title win in 2025.

According to a well-placed source, Gallants might have made contact as they step up efforts to secure a new coach ahead of the upcoming season.
While no deal has been finalised, insiders suggest Lafitte is high on the club’s shortlist, and discussions may be ongoing behind the scenes.
