Chippa Preparing For Nwabali To Join Chiefs Or European Club

Chippa Preparing For Nwabali To Join Chiefs Or European Club

With first-choice goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali expected to leave Chippa United at the end of the season, the club is believed to have identified his potential replacement.

Insider sources have indicated that the Chilli Boys are preparing for Nwabali’s possible move to Kaizer Chiefs or Europe by targeting Kruger United’s 28-year-old shot-stopper Njabulo Cebekhulu.

"The advantage is that assistant coach Mabhuti Khenyeza knows the goalkeeper as he worked with him at Golden Arrows. So Chippa don't want to be caught off guard when Nwabali leaves at the end of the season. The chances are very high for Nwabali to move to either Kaizer Chiefs or even Europe so Cebekhulu is touted as the right replacement for Chippa United," the Siya source stated.

Cebekhulu, a tall and commanding goalkeeper, has also attracted interest from another Betway Premiership side, SuperSport United, who are believed to be monitoring him as well.

"It's believed that both clubs have been monitoring the goalkeeper at Kruger United. Yes, that tall goalkeeper who played almost all games last season when they were still in the Mpumalanga ABC Motsepe League. Both SuperSport United and Chippa United have been monitoring him and it will depend on what happens at the end of the season but there is healthy interest in him," the second insider revealed.

Previously on the books of Polokwane City and Golden Arrows, Cebekhulu struggled for first-team opportunities at those clubs. However, his form at Kruger has showcased his potential as a reinforcement for Chippa or SuperSport United.

Soccer Laduma contacted both Chippa United and SuperSport United for comment on the matter, but no response was received at the time of publishing.
