With the Africa Cup of Nations around the corner, Bafana Bafana forward Mihlali Mayambela has discussed whether a move back home would increase or affect his chances of making the final squad.
With the new season close to returning, international football will also follow suit shortly thereafter, as Bafana will resume the 2026 FIFA Club World Cup qualifiers at the beginning of September against Lesotho and Nigeria.

There will be no rest from there on as Hugo Broos' charges will complete World Cup qualifiers against Zimbabwe and Rwanda in October.
A month later, the Belgian will have to finalize his squad for the AFCON tournament in Morocco which starts in December.
After Mayambela was omitted from the South Africa squad that played World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Benin in March, could a potential move to Kaizer Chiefs during the off-season increase or hurt his chances of making it to the AFCON?
"The coach chose me while I was in Cyprus and so that means he's doing his job, he sees all of us," Mayambela said on Soccerbeat YouTube Channel.
"I don't think now it's about me proving myself, it's about me going back, trying to express myself more and establish myself. Because I've been there, I played a few games in the starting eleven, so I know what it takes to be there.

"I don't think that would be a reason for me to come back home. He sees us, he knows, he has his people scouting for him. As long as I keep performing, I'll continue to get the call ups. I don't think it will change much, me being here (in Cyprus) or there (South Africa)," Mayambela added.
In the same interview, Mayambela admitted that Chiefs made contact with him, although unofficially, as previously revealed by KickOff.
