Chiefs Insider Rules Out Move For SSU Midfielder

JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA - FEBRUARY 18: Siphesihle Ndlovu of Supersport United celebrate a goal during the Betway Premiership match between Kaizer Chiefs and SuperSport United

Despite reports linking several players to Kaizer Chiefs, the latest information from inside Naturena suggests one particular midfielder is not believed to be on the club's radar despite media speculation.

An insider with knowledge on recruitment strategy has indicated that Amakhosi have not shown interest nor enquired about a SuperSport United midfielder, Siphesihle Ndlovu who has recently been linked to the club.

The insider added that despite the fact that the club is in the market scouting for players in different positions, the following is the stance on Ndlovu.

"No, it's not true. Ndlovu has not been on Chiefs' wanted list. Yes, there are players from SuperSport United who the club is interested in and they have enquired about them but it's believed that Siphesihle Ndlovu is not one of those," the insider told Soccer Laduma.

A confidant with intimate knowledge of Chiefs' positional priorities stated that the club is not looking at a central midfielder like Ndlovu but attacking players.

"As much as the club is looking at signing players they are looking at wingers, strikers and at least left backs, not a central midfielder like Ndlovu. So apparently it's not true that Chiefs are interested in him," the second insider revealed.

The former Orlando Pirates midfielder joined SuperSport United in 2022, and this past season, the 28-year-old featured in nearly all the games.

Soccer Laduma contacted Chiefs for comment on the issue but there was no response at the time of publishing this story.

The situation on Ndlovu provides insight into Chiefs' transfer strategy, suggesting they're prioritising other positions over central midfield. With the Dutch pre-season tour looming, the coming days will likely reveal more about which targets genuinely figure in Amakhosi's plans as they look to improve on last season's ninth-place league finish.
