As reported by the crew earlier this month, former Newcastle Reserves and Bidvest Wits defender Cross spent some time training with Amakhosi hoping to secure a contract with coach Arthur Zwane's side.
The free agent had also spent time training with SuperSport United prior to that.
According to Siya sources, Cross, who recently parted ways with Newcastle in England spent a few days training with the Chiefs first team; however, indications from inside Naturena is that the club have opted against bringing the player on board.
"He's gone, he was only there for a few days," the source informed the crew.
Cross came through the famed the Bidvest Wits academy, before spending two seasons on loan at Bundesliga side FC Schalke 04. Thereafter, the player was snapped up by Newcastle United's under-23 squad after completing a successful trial with the Magpies.
He featured in the UEFA Youth League as well as the Premier League 2.
Cross will be hoping to clarify his future in the coming weeks, with most clubs in the DStv Premiership having returned to training this week.
It remains to be seen whether the 21-year-old will continue his club search locally, or whether he will look to further his career abroad once again.
