A former Kaizer Chiefs player has suggested that the club needs to invest in youth development in an attempt at bringing back the glory days.

The Soweto giants last won a major trophy in 2015 and the club's former midfielder Ntokozo 'Koloba' Sikhakhane feels that a change is needed in how the club operates for the team to get some silverware again.
"My advice to big clubs is that they should take scouting and development seriously and it's a pity that some people are into football for wrong reasons. Football is too deep and development should be taken seriously and I hear people talking about Sundowns buying all the top players and all that but other big clubs should invest in young players if they can't compete with Sundowns in the transfer market. I was once a player for Kaizer Chiefs and it doesn't sit well with me when the club is being laughed at for not winning trophies. Chiefs is a big club that is known for winning trophies," said Sikhakhane.

In the following season, the team won the league and that's what the club has always been known for. It's been almost seven years now without the team winning anything and by the looks of things we are going to 10 years with things still the same and something has to change," he added.
