Former Kaizer Chiefs head coach Arthur Zwane has opened up on his new position within the club.

There was uncertainty over Zwane's role within Amakhosi, after he was redeployed, not once, but twice, in quick succession as the changes rung in at Naturena.

Zwane's role was made more apparent upon the appointment of Nesreddine Nabi as Chiefs head coach, with the club's Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Junior confirming that Zwane has returned to a familiar role within the club's development structures, something that the long-serving Zwane has embraced.

"I've always been a person who is into projects," Zwane told media in Kwa-Zulu Natal at the Prince Mangosutho Buthelezi Cup.

"Ever since I was a soccer player, I used to have my own team. I think we were number one for five years until I decided to sell the status. Why I'm mentioning this is because it was a project. It wasn't about getting promotion to the PSL, it was about trying to help the kids, mold and develop them and make sure that they don't lose hope at the same time.

"A lot happened during that time and some of the kids got an opportunity to play in the PSL from that team. When I decided to stay at Kaizer Chiefs I sold my status in the then Vodacom League (ABC Motsepe League) we were second on the log but due to corruption we sold the status. It was too much for me and it was also discouraging the players. I had to release certain players and luckily some of them were taken by PSL teams.

"Hence I'm saying I've always been a person who is into projects.

"For me to be given the opportunity to go to the top and to return here is still a big opportunity. Just to be part of Kaizer Chiefs is a huge responsibility - it doesn't matter in which capacity.

"The fact is that you have to be at your highest level all the time and give your utmost best. The passion is there. I'm a football person, so to me it doesn't matter whether it's in the first team or in the development as long as I can contribute and do the thing that I love. There are a lot of people who do not enjoy the work they do. So, I've been blessed to be here," he added.
