Kaizer Chiefs insiders have underlined that Cyprian club Aris Limassol are asking for a substantially higher price than initially suggested for their player, the Siya crew has been informed.
As previously reported by Soccer Laduma, and subsequently confirmed by the player himself during a radio interview, negotiations between Chiefs and Mihlali Mayambela had progressed positively before ultimately stalling.

Sources close to Amakhosi with intimate knowledge of the situation have indicated that Aris Limassol demanded approximately R15 million for the South African player's services—three times more than what other media have reported, R5 million.
Despite Mayambela's contract expiring in June 2026, Chiefs reportedly felt that such a valuation is excessive.
"I can tell you now that no team can refuse to pay R5 million for a player of Mihlali's calibre. Have you seen the players the team has signed so far this season? And the amount they have paid? It's around that R5 million for some of them and how could they fail to pay the same amount for an international Bafana Bafana player? So, Aris Limassol demanded around R15 million with one year left on the player's contract. This is why the club felt that was too much hence it's believed they put it on hold for now," the source told Soccer Laduma.
Meanwhile, a second source stated that Amakhosi haven't abandoned their pursuit of the talented forward, with negotiations potentially continuing into the latter stages of the transfer window. This is to ease concerns that the club would just wait to sign the player a year from now.
"Chiefs are not just sitting back and relaxing by waiting for January or the end of the season. It's believed the negotiations are ongoing and it will depend on how low Aris Limassol can go in terms of the amount. Chiefs are believed to want to have him as early as they can. But if that doesn't happen, then they will wait for his free agency status from January until the end of the season," the second insider revealed.

Soccer Laduma contacted Aris Limassol media officer Costas Papadopoulos to find out about Mayambela's price tag and to receive a response to details around the reported negotiations.
"I never comment on posts or publications based on media information. So, no comment," Papadopoulos told Soccer Laduma from Cyprus.
This publication also contacted Chiefs for comment but received no official response at the time of publishing.
