The story
Arsenal and English Premier League legend Thierry Henry is joining the likes of Lucas Radebe and Siphiwe Tshabalala as a Betway ambassador, with Shabba welcoming one of his favourite players to the betting company.
Shabba, who is a proud Arsenal supporter, took to Instagram to welcome France's second all-time leading goalscorer (51 goals), Henry, to the Betway family by sharing a throwback of the Frenchman's visit to Naturena.
The Amakhosi legend shared selfies of himself with Henry at the Kaizer Chiefs Village in August 2017.
The former FC Barcelona forward visited Naturena alongside NBA superstar Jaylen Brown of the Boston Celtics and the Houston Rockets' Clint Capela.
Henry and the two Basketball stars were in Johannesburg as part of the NBA Africa's 2017 campaign to promote basketball in Mzansi, with the trio taken on a tour of the Chiefs' HQ by the club's Marketing Director, Jessica Motaung, who was joined by Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Junior, Shabba and former Chiefs defender, Sekhukhune United's Daniel Cardoso.
"I made my debut for France against South Africa and finished off my international career against the same opponent," said Henry, as quoted by Chiefs' media team during his visit eight years ago.
He added, "I also know the surname Motaung, because there was a player called Sizwe Motaung in the team.
"I am glad to have met Shabba because I still remember the goal he scored against Mexico in the 2010 World Cup, and it is cool to see that he wears jersey number 14, which is a special number to me," said Henry at the time, with Shabba's aforementioned IG post on Henry, including a picture of the two embracing after Bafana's famous World Cup win over the French in Bloemfontein.
