Kaizer Chiefs are still in search of one more striker who can help them score goals and fight for trophies this season, and one of the strikers previously linked to the club was former Cape Town City forward Khanyisa Mayo.
Amakhosi were pursuing the CR Belouizdad striker before he joined the North African side, but with the latest reports of how Mayo is unsettled in Algeria, the link has resurfaced.

Chiefs legend Patrick Mayo had recently discussed how Amakhosi asked him about his son's availability.
Now, another former Chiefs star, Junior Khanye doesn't believe the potential signing of the 26-year-old would solve Chiefs' scoring problems.
Speaking to Soccer Laduma in an exclusive interview, Khanye said that Chiefs need more than just a striker to solve the problem and, furthermore, they need a striker who can perform week in and week out.
"No doubt about it he is a good player. I used to play with his father Patrick Mayo at Kaizer Chiefs. You know he has improved compared to the time before he left South Africa. He can score goals but he can't help Chiefs alone. I have seen him play in the CAF Champions League and he has power on both legs which is good as a striker but he needs to have quality players around him to do the job. Have a good number ten who can supply him balls to score and quality left and right wingers who can create and also score goals if he doesn't. So as much as he is good I don't think he can solve Chiefs' problems alone. They need at least eight or nine quality players. Not players who are available," Khanye told Soccer Laduma.
Khanye further stated that Chiefs need strikers in the mould of Collins Mbesuma and Knowledge Musona to help the team.

"At this time you need a striker who will perform week in week out. A striker who can be consistent. They need strikers like Collins Mbesuma and Knowledge Musona and I don't think, as good as Mayo is, he is like those two. But above all, they need quality players all around," Khanye added.
Speaking to Mayo's agent, Basia Michaels, the Siya crew provided the latest on the player's situation in Algeria. It remains to be seen if Mayo would stay at CR Belouizdad, move elsewhere abroad or become available to PSL clubs.
