The story
Orlando Pirates have been one of the busiest clubs in the transfer window with a host of incoming and outgoings, with Bafana Bafana internationals Mohau Nkota and Zakhele Lepasa falling in the latter category.
Lepasa parted ways with the Buccaneers in July after spending five seasons in the first team, having gained promotion from the club's development ranks.
Lepasa's time with Pirates' senior team was riddled with injuries, and in the previous season, he didn’t feature for the Buccaneers in any competitive matches. His best showing was in the 2023/24 campaign, where he bagged 10 goals in 23 games in all competitions.
On Saturday, Lepasa posted a touching video on his Instagram to not only reflect on his time at Bucs but also to share a heartening farewell message.
"I've had a difficult time trying to process what's been happening in the past two weeks in my life. I've known for a while now that I'm going to leave the club, and I've used this time to reflect," shared a sombre Lepasa.
"I first want to thank the chairman for giving me an opportunity, and the management as well. I would love to thank the technical team, every coach that I've worked with at Orlando Pirates. Every player that I have played with and was lucky enough to share a dressing room with, from the kitmen to the break room staff,
"And most importantly, I want to thank the fans, every person who's always been rooting for me from day one, I just want to thank you guys and I want you to know that as I step into the next chapter of my life, I look forward with excitement and I’m so grateful for what I leave behind. Once and always," added the striker.

Also over the weekend, youngster Mohau Nkota made a heartfelt gesture post to pay tribute to his former coaches at Orlando Pirates, including Jose Riveiro, and club legend Joseph Makhanya.
Nkota also expressed gratitude to his entire Buccaneers family — including chairman Irvin Khoza — as he sets off on a new chapter in his career.
Nkota shared his farewell message just after midnight on Friday, nearly three weeks after Pirates officially announced his transfer to Saudi Pro League side Al-Ettifaq.
The 20-year-old earned the move following an eye-catching debut season with the Soweto giants.
Promoted from the DStv Diski Challenge (DDC) team by coach Makhanya at the start of the 2024/25 season, Nkota made 39 appearances and was directly involved in 12 goals during a standout campaign.
