The story
Although Stellenbosch and Richards Bay enjoyed contrasting fortunes in their respective MTN8 quarter-final matches, both clubs delivered in debuting their new kits for the season.
Stellies looked as classy as ever in their maroon Home strip by Le Coq Sportif, as they were made to work for their place in the MTN8 semifinals after a hard-fought 3-2 win against AmaZulu at the DHL Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Stellenbosch launched their new kits officially on Friday, as part of "The Heart of the Cape" campaign that pays homage to the club's roots in the Cape Winelands and its status as the flagbearer for football in the Western Cape.
As per the club's press release on their new home strip, the all-maroon stunner features a "gritty, urban-geometric design on the traditional maroon base, which is interspersed with subtle gold accents that represent the young and local talents that are unearthed and refined by the club."
The Natal Rich Boyz, on the other hand, gave fans a glimpse into their strip just moments before their 4-0 humbling at the hands of Mamelodi Sundowns at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Sunday evening.
Richards Bay showcased the club's new navy kit, designed by Joma. The KwaZulu-Natal outfit will be turning heads with this potential classic, which sees lighter shades of blue displayed on the front of the shirt that includes a V-neck collar with cold trimmings on it and the cuffs.
