The story
The midfielder recently took to social media to reflect on a milestone moment in his career — his league debut in the English Championship.
The 24-year-old joined Pompey just a month ago from Swedish top-flight outfit IFK Värnamo, signing a three-year deal with the club. In doing so, he became only the second South African to represent Portsmouth, following in the footsteps of Bafana Bafana’s most-capped player, Aaron Mokoena.
Le Roux made his Championship debut during Portsmouth's 1-1 draw against West Bromwich Albion on Saturday. He marked the occasion by sharing a photo of himself in action on Instagram, proudly representing the 2008 FA Cup winners.
Alongside the image, he captioned the post with a simple yet heartfelt message: "Happy to have made my Championship debut. All glory to God! @pompey."
His debut represents a promising start to his time in English football and a proud moment for the ex-SuperSport United (now Siwelele) talent, who's been in Europe for five years.
Here's a look back at what Le Roux said in his first interview with Portsmouth's media team:
