Former Amakhosi and Bafana Bafana star Jabu Mahlangu shared a video on his Instagram to announce that he's joining Bopha Foundation in their efforts to give back to communities in Gauteng that are in need.
As mentioned on their website, Bopha Foundation was founded in 2014 and is a non-governmental organisation based in Ekurhuleni, dedicated to uplifting disadvantaged communities.
Bopha's site also mentioned that the foundation supports children and the elderly by focusing on education, food security, healthcare, and safety, while also tackling broader socio-economic issues through job creation, business development, and income-generating projects.
Mahlangu stated why he's partnering with the Bopha Foundation and that the spirit of Ubuntu remains important to him.
"I'll be part of the Bopha Foundation, and I'm very pleased that this organisation is constantly there for people and is on hand to help underprivileged communities from townships and rural areas by addressing issues such as food security," shared Mahlangu, adding:
"As you know, umuntu ngumuntu ngabantu (I am because we are), and I'll be partnering with the Bopha Foundation on other initiatives to give back to our communities and as a football man, we're still in talks with Bopha to potentially launch a soccer tournament."
Mahlangu revealed that the tournament, which is likely to be named after him, would take place in the Ekurhuleni region.
