The story
Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Miguel Cardoso reflected on his team's CAF Champions League final heartbreak and shared a heartfelt moment with midfielder Themba Zwane on Instagram.
Cardoso reiterated that he may not be "happy" with the outcome of Sunday's final, second leg loss to Pyramids, but is rather "proud" of the efforts his players put in during the tournament.
'Happy? No. Proud? Yes," wrote Cardoso on his IG story, attaching images of him standing next to the CAF Champions League final signage as both a Sundowns coach and last season as Esperance’s mentor.
Cardoso has unfortunately lost consecutive CAF Champions League finals, yet the Portuguese coach appears to remain optimistic despite these setbacks.
"Talent is built in calm days, character in tempest ones!" he added in a separate IG story, attaching a snap of him addressing his team pitchside during the first leg against Pyramids at Loftus Versfeld.
Cardoso's snap with Zwane will also raise some eyebrows among supporters, after "Mshishi" was an unused substitute in both legs of the final.
Zwane recently returned from a lengthy injury that sidelined him for just over five months and is yet to start a match since making his comeback at the end of April.
