The story
In what's been a rather glum 2024/25 campaign for relegation-threatened Cape Town City, teenage fan Onikwa provided some much-needed positivity to the club.
As stated by the Citizens' social media pages, the club, in partnership with Reach For A Dream, a non-government organisation that helps children suffering from life-threatening illnesses to make their dream day a reality.
"Onikwa is currently living with cancer, and we were honoured to share meaningful moments with him for his Dream Day," read the caption to the club's post on the youngster's visit to the club at the DHL Stadium.
"We are humbled to have met you, Onikwa. The entire City family is behind you. You are a true inspiration to us all," added CT City's statement.
Onikwa and the rest of the Cape Town City faithful will hope the club can retain its status as a Betway Premiership club next season as they face the tricky task of overcoming Motsepe Foundation clubs, Orbit College, and Casric Stars in the promotion/relegation playoffs in June
Take a look at Onikwa's visit to the DHL Stadium to see his City heroes, including veterans Darren Keet and Thulani Serero:
