A timely injury boost could be on the cards for Orlando Pirates as one of their standout performers from last season edges closer to full fitness.
Pirates could soon receive a major boost with influential midfielder Makhehleni Makhaula understood to be making encouraging progress in his recovery from injury.

Makhaula has been a noticeable absentee for the Buccaneers so far this season, having carried the knock that ruled him out at the end of the last campaign.
His absence has been felt, particularly after he delivered outstanding performances last season which saw him crowned Midfielder of the Season at the PSL awards.
The current FIFA international break could not have come at a better time for both Pirates and the player, as it gives the medical and technical team an opportunity to intensify his rehabilitation work with the hope of reducing the time left before his full return to competitive action.
A fully fit Makhaula would be a huge addition for coach Abdeslam Ouaddou, especially with Pirates balancing Betway Premiership and MTN8 commitments, and the 35-year-old’s leadership and experience in the middle of the park could once again prove decisive.
Meanwhile, there is further positive news in the Buccaneers camp with Olisa Ndah also edging closer to making his long-awaited return.

The Nigerian defender has been sidelined for an extended period with injury but is believed to be nearing full fitness, which would add much-needed depth and stability to the Soweto giants’ defensive unit.
With both Makhaula and Ndah making strides in their recovery, Pirates supporters will be hopeful that the coming weeks could see the return of two key figures as the club looks to maintain momentum in the Betway Premiership and beyond.
