The story
Former Orlando Pirates striker Lyle Foster opened his account for the 2025/26 English Premier League season with a goal against Manchester United in Burnley's 3-2 loss at Old Trafford on Saturday.
Foster was the bright spark in the Clarets' attack and bagged his goal ten minutes after the break, following a timely run to the heart of the six-yard area to tap in a cross from Jacob Bruun Larsen.
Foster's 55th-minute strike saw the away end at Old Trafford break out into song, with Burnley's fans singing their chant for the 24-year-old striker, which is a remix of Shakira's 2010 FIFA World Cup song, "Waka Waka."
VAR came in the way of Foster potentially scoring a brace in Burnley's narrow loss to the Red Devils, with the Johannesburg-born striker opening up after the match about fulfilling a childhood dream of scoring at the Theatre of Dreams.
