The story
On Thursday, Stellenbosch FC confirmed the permanent transfer of academy graduate and Amajita star, Tylon Smith, to English Championship side QPR, with the London club also unveiling the signing of the youngster yesterday.
The 20-year-old becomes the first player to progress through every level of the club's youth system — from under-14s to the reserves — before earning a move overseas, marking a proud milestone for the club.
Smith's move abroad follows his impressive performance at the CAF Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations, where he helped South Africa secure their first-ever title and earned both Player of the Tournament and Team of the Tournament honours.
Stellies natives and Bafana Bafana stars, Luke le Roux, Deano van Rooyen and Jayden Smith, all sent their well-wishes to the youngster as he prepares to embark on a life-changing journey.
Smith's Amajita teammates, Kutlwano Letlhaku, Gomolemo Kekana, Sfiso Timba and Lazola Maku were also among the players who congratulated the lanky defender on his big move.
