The story
In presenting the Orlando Pirates Home and Away kits for the 2025/26 season, adidas shared the story behind the dynamic designs.
The kits, which were unveiled by the club before their pre-season tour to Spain, showcase a fusion of tradition, innovation and the unbreakable spirit of the Buccaneers.
The Buccaneers' new strips are being launched on Thursday, with adidas presenting it as a rallying call to the Pirates faithful, aiming to unite supporters under the culture-rich symbolic salute of "throwing the bones", which is rooted in the spirit of solidarity, passion and allegiance to the Soweto giants.
"More than a greeting, this gesture has become a call to arms for the Buccaneers family, an invitation for fans to stand in unity, honour the players, and celebrate their collective identity at every match. With the jersey as armour, this salute is a war-cry," stated adidas in their launch of the kit, speaking on the famous club salute, which is done by the players to the matchgoing fans before kick-off.
Continuing the club's rich history, the Home jersey features its iconic black base enhanced with classic white and striking red accents. The new Home jersey serves as a timeless symbol of what it means to wear the skull and crossbones.
The Away jersey takes a more bold, contemporary design approach and is inspired by the energetic spirit of Johannesburg.
It abstractly reimagines the city's iconic flag through a flowing pattern of black and white, creating a dynamic visual that embodies the vibrancy of the city.
In motion, the jersey represents Johannesburg's heartbeat and rhythm, perfectly capturing Pirates' forward-moving spirit.
Along with any new kit design comes a lifestyle collection, and for the upcoming season, adidas has treated the Happy People to a vibrant and colourful collection, following its 'Tiro 25' template.
The standout pieces include a spring green 'Tiro C Polo' golf shirt, valued at R899, including a matching 'Tiro25 C' jacket for R1,699.
There's also the plush pink 'Tiro25 C' jacket, which could be used as a pre-match jacket for the players this coming season.
The 2025/26 Orlando Pirates Home and Away jerseys are now available online at adidas.co.za, at Orlando Pirates retail stores, and through select adidas partners, while the lifestyle/training collection can be found at piratesshop.co.za.
