Sundowns Humble Pirates, Chiefs Fall To SuperSport

Mamelodi Sundowns 4-2 Orlando Pirates

Orlando Pirates' six-game winning run came to an end after a 4-2 drubbing by Mamelodi Sundown on Saturday afternoon at Giant Stadium. 

After a quiet first stanza, Jerome Karelse broke the deadlock for Sundowns within a minute from the interval and Pirates responded six minutes later through Njabulo Mndebele.

As the game opened up, Thato Matli restored the lead for the Brazilians shortly before the hour-mark and Mohau Nkota obliged to give the Buccaneers another equaliser soon thereafter.

Sundowns still had goals in them as Sipho Maluleke got their lead back with 16 minutes remaining and Karelse put the game to bed for Surprise Moriri's charges in stoppage time to complete his brace.

SuperSport United 2-0 Kaizer Chiefs

SuperSport United went up to third on the table after beating Kaizer Chiefs 2-0 on Sunday afternoon at Giant Stadium.

Shandre Campbell broke the deadlock for Matsatsantsa ten minutes before the interval and Dan Tshimanga put the game beyond Chiefs with seven minutes to go.

Marumo Gallants 0-2 Cape Town City

Cape Town City extended their lead at the top of the standings after beating Marumo Gallants 2-0 on Saturday morning at Thohoyandou Stadium.

Aphelele Modolwana broke the deadlock for City on the half-hour mark and Lisakhanyo Mene doubled their lead on the stroke of halftime.

Richards Bay 3-1 Chippa United

Richards Bay won for the first time in eight games after thrashing Chippa United 3-1 on Sunday afternoon thanks to a brace by Sanele Mchunu at Mpumalanga Stadium.

Mchunu opened the scoring for Richards Bay on 20 minutes but Chippa found the equaliser five minutes later.

Mchunu restored the lead for the Natal Rich Boyz just after the half-hour mark and Mfundi Ngema settled the contest in the last minute.

Royal AM 1-2 Maritzburg United

Maritzburg United won only their third game of the season after beating Royal AM 2-1 on Saturday morning at Mpumalanga Stadium.

Asanda Buthelezi broke the deadlock for Maritzburg on 24 minutes and Royal AM pulled a goal back with 15 minutes to go.

However, Buthelezi snatched the winner for the Team of Choice four minutes later.
