Berkane Boss Gives Thoughts On Defeating Davids' Simba

RS Berkane head coach Moin Chaabani has given his thoughts on pipping Fadlu Davids’ Simba SC to CAF Confederation Cup glory.

This past season, the Tunisian tactician made history with the Orange Boys. Not only did he help them secure their first-ever league title, but he also achieved continental success by defeating the Reds of Msimbazi 3-1 on aggregate in the Confederation Cup.

Both titles are the 44-year-old’s first with Berkane since taking over in February 2024, and he would lift the African championship at the expense of Capetonian Davids, to make it happen. While they successfully managed to get a 1-1 draw in Zanzibar to secure their fourth Confederation Cup title this past weekend, Chaabani did concede that Davids’ charges did not make it easy for them.

"We achieved the second title this year after winning the title of Moroccan League,” the Beja native said, as per WinWin

“This is historic. Today's match wasn't easy under difficult circumstances against Simba SC, which boasts good players, but we at Nahdet Berkane knew how to see the match through to the end."

"We knew that Simba would go in looking for an early goal and would push to come back after the two-goal defeat in the first leg. When we conceded the first goal, we tried to maintain our composure throughout the match, and Nahdat Berkane deservedly won the title."
