Pyramids FC Request New Postponement

After experiencing travel delays flying back to Egypt this weekend, Pyramids FC has reportedly requested that their league match be postponed.

Pyramids faced Betway Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns in the CAF Champions League final first leg in Pretoria on Saturday as the two sides played out a 1-1 draw.

The second leg is scheduled to take place in Cairo on Sunday 1 June with both sides leaving it all to play for to take home Africa's biggest continental prize.

While Sundowns' domestic duties have concluded, Pyramids still have a few games to go. In addition to the Champions League final, the Sky Blues will play the Egyptian Cup Final and have one more league game left against Ceramica Cleopatra.

The league match is scheduled for 28 May, four days ahead of the final. The club had previously requested to postpone the match against Ceramica Cleopatra but it was denied.

According to Egyptian publication FilGoal, Pyramids reportedly submitted another postponement request after the side faced travel delays leaving South Africa.

Pyramids planned to stop in Kenya to re-fuel. However, the team faced a crisis that forced a three-hour delay as opposed to 40 minutes as was reportedly planned.

According to Gomhuria Online, Pyramids Sporting Director Hany Said revealed he was unsure about whether the request would be approved.

"This topic has become boring to talk about," he said.

"I don't know if we will receive a response or not, and I don't expect anything or wait for anything, because I don't think that will happen."

He added: "The people in charge have their own agendas other than the public interest. The natural role of the Club Association is to be responsible for the interests of all teams, not the interests of any one person in particular. This does not happen here. What is the purpose of the association?"
