Mamelodi Sundowns captain, Ramahlwe Mphahlele, did not travel with his team in their trip to Congo for the match against Leopards de Dolisie.
Brave Sundowns Battle Past Leopards After Tough Draw
A source close to the Siya crew has revealed that, despite recovering from injury and being ready to play, that the 26-year-old was not included for technical reasons.
"He is fit and back in training and initially he was supposed to travel with the team on Congo on Thursday morning," the source said. "But then the technical team decided that he stays back at train with the other players for his own fitness.
The source added that the idea is to get the midfielder back to optimal fitness in order to avoid any risk involved with rushing him back to the pitch.
"They want him to be fully fit as the team has many more games to play in the league, Nedbank Cup as well as the Champions league and that's why he stayed behind," the source added.
Zungu Close To Return For Sundowns
Mphahlele has made 12 PSL appearances for Mamelodi Sundowns this season.
