To get a better understanding of what a massive club Asec Mimosas is on the African continent, one only has to look at the number of appearances they've made in continental competitions since the club's inception in 1948.
The Mimosas, as the side is affectionately known, has taken part 25 times in the CAF Champions League, from when it was still called the African Cup of Champions Clubs.
They reached the final in 1995, where they succumbed to Orlando Pirates on home ground, then won it in 1998. They went on to win the Super Cup the following year, then also won the prestigious pre-season Peace Cup tournament in 2001, which Kaizer Chiefs participated in 2003.
In addition, Asec Mimosas have won 24 domestic championships and 32 cup competitions in the Ivorian top flight. They come with pedigree and are not to be taken lightly.
The two teams will clash at the FNB Stadium on Saturday with the game scheduled for 19h30.
