Speaking to Soccer Laduma in edition 963, the Namibian elaborated on some of the questionable tactics used in African countries.

"The challenge with the team was the travelling. Sometimes when you travelled to West Africa they used different tactics to demoralise the players."

The Glamour boys won the 2001 CAF Cup Winners' Cup, which equates to the CAF Confederation Cup in its current format.

"At times they would tell you, 'No, the bus is still coming and you have to wait.' You ended up having to wait for the bus for four or five hours, sitting at the airport. They would even tell you that the Secretary General, who had to do all the registrations to get the visas, was not available," Nauseb said.

Chiefs have their work cut out for them ahead of the second-leg tie with ASEC Mimosas, as they look to overturn a 1-0 deficit away from home.

Nauseb highlights mental strength as the biggest attribute in succeeding in Africa.

"My advice to the current Chiefs players would be to be mentally strong. If their mental strength is there, I don't think they will have a problem.

"I give Chiefs a chance, because previously there was not that much money in these competitions, but now there is money to play for and I don't think they will not take it seriously," he concluded.

The Naturena-based outfit will take on the Ivorian giants later this afternoon, with the game being scheduled for 17h30.
